Figure News March 1st 2024
Welcome back all, it's been a bit of a panic this week, Smyths finally put the Monday Night Wars Wave 1 figures up for sale, I missed them first time round then snagged the them just after. Amazingly, they were to be delivered by dpd the next day, was amazed by the speed however, come the next day as I am checking the tracking I see it was due to be delivered at my workplace after I had gone home, so while at home of course I am checking to see if it got delivered then I see the dreaded 'sorry we missed you' and when I looked at the picture of where they attempted to deliver it I noticed it wasn't even the right place so the panic set in. They did deliver the package the next day, I posted pics on my socials, links HERE including a video which is pretty basic, give it a watch if you wish, excuse the accent. On a side note, I am not sure, as of writing this, that most of the collectors over in the US haven't got complete sets yet so we have done well to get them, just gutted they have stopped letting us have the Legends over here, we now have to go paying over the odds on them as they will need to be imported. Hopefully wave 2 of the Monday Night Wars figures isn't far behind and I am guessing over the Wrestle Mania weekend we may find out what is in wave 3.
On the subject of future releases, Ultimate Edition 21 have gone up for pre order on Ringside Collectibles and if that is your preferred method of purchasing them then there are many codes you can get to get 10% off, various Youtubers have codes on their videos but you can always use the code of good brother @pickett_shaun which is PICKETT - I have pre ordered them myself from Rock and Roll Collectibles. Three figures in the set, all males so I need to buy them all, we will be getting Cody Rhodes, first UE since the initial Mattel Creations one, that was OK but the ring jacket left a lot to be desired, I think this one will be similar to the AEW Supreme one with a rubber coat and it will be similar to the Bret Hart UE's with removable arms to remove the torso part of the jacket so you can, if you wish, display him in his wrestling attire, like the second Bret Hart one, if I see a cheaper one down the line, I may purchase a second one to do just this. Also in series 21 we will also have our first Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn UE's, won't be the first time those two characters get a mention in this blog today.
We have had some rumoured upcoming figures leaked from Instagram account 'Collectors Insider' let's stick with UE's. He has said the next wave will see Jey Uso, John Cena and for the first time in UE form, Gunther. We had Uso in the Ringside Collectibles 2 pack set with his brother Jimmy, we have had Cena in UE form twice previously I believe, both decent figures but I am not a Cena fan and I don't think there's many that are thinking 'hey, you know what we need, another UE Cena' but Mattel are a business, Cena's time affiliated with the WWE could soon be coming to an end, who knows, so Mattel may be thinking let's get what we can while we can, Cena has a big fan base and another UE of him may sell quite well, can't hold it against them, they are a business after all. Of course, we don't need to buy it if we don't want it but although I don't collect female figures, I do collect all other male UE's so I will need to pick it up.
Other figures rumoured to be in the future from Mattel in Elite series 111 are as following, Cody Rhodes, Finn Balor, Ricochet, Trish Stratus, Tony D'Angelo and to the surprise of a few, The Sandman. Sandman made his name in ECW of course and then became a part of the WWE's version of ECW back in the mid-2000's. Sandman will be the chase figure in this series so there is a bit of talk on the figure pages (check out this WrestlingToys Gaming United facebook one ran by good brother Steve) about what attires we may see. Sandman started off as a surfer type character in ECW back in about 93, but most will know him from his kendo stick wielding days when he used to wear the Zubaz style bottoms or jeans. I have a decent custom Sandman which I'll post a picture of below but it'll be great to get official Mattel figures of Sandman.

Some of the others mentioned by Collectors Insider are 'Top Picks' there are some Elites and Basics/Main Event Series. In the Elite line we'll get another Cody Rhodes, The Rock and Solo Sikoa. Maybe The Rock will be based on his recent return look. I always thought when Top Picks first came out they were supposed to be a selection of Elites that have already been released they think will be decent sellers. I have not had many Top Picks previously, I bought the previous Cody Rhodes one as I didn't pick up the Elite 101 figure, it was at this point I realised that they were not necessarily figures that had been released before (well, not the same gear) as the TP one was different attire to the Elite 101 figure. Just yesterday as of typing this I recieved another TP figure and this was Logan Paul, it was his first Elite figure so thought I'd snag it. Rhodes also has another one currently out in red tights, think I'll swerve it unless I see it reduced or for sale at a lower price on the secondary market. The basics in the Top Picks will be Seth Rollins, Dominick Mysterio and LA Knight. I know people went mad for the last LA Knight basic, I wasn't familiar with him as a wrestler as I don't watch the product, I just see clips here and there so didn't take the plunge on that figure but I have pre ordered his first Elite from Smyths.
So that's it guys, thanks for reading, check out all my socials, all the best, Stu
