Top 10 Mattel Elite Shawn Michaels Figures

 

Hi all, I hope you all had a good Christmas.

Many have put out videos and lists of their top 10 figures of 2022 but I decided against that and instead I am just going to do another top 10 list and as you have seen by the title, it's the top 10 Shawn Michaels Elite figures, he has enough Elites that I don't need to include Ultimate Editions in a top 10 for Michaels.

As always, my lists like this are done with first hand knowledge, I never really include a figure in a list I don't actually own and this is no different, every figure in the top 10, I actually own. For the record, the list isn't comprised of figures just because they are the ones I own, I actually own all his Elite figures that have been released so far (except the latest Legends one which is just hitting Target stores in the US).

Before I start, I want to bring up the Network Spotlight Michaels figure. It is based on his match with Razor Ramon at Summer Slam 1995 but it has the most atrocious head scan i have ever seen on a Mattel Michaels by far. When I bought mine off ebay, it had already had a head swap (it looks like the same head that came with the Lost Legends one based on his 97 look prior to Montreal which of course was a re-release of a figure from an early Elite series). The head swap makes it look 100 times better but as it has the head swap, I am leaving it off the list. Let me know if you actually like the originally like the head scan on that Network Spotlight one.

10 Commissioner Michaels (BAF from Flashback Series 3)

I am not sure this one would make anyone else's list but I have had to include it maybe not because it looks so good but because of how sought after it is. Here in the UK, we of course didn't get the Flashback series (like many other series) in normal retail shops so have to pay over the odds for any of these types of exclusives if we want them. I have all the 4 figures that were in the set but I bought them all loose so had no BAF parts for the Michaels but was lucky enough to have been offered the complete figure some time afterwards. 

 

 

9 Shawn Michaels  (Elite Series 3)

I had stopped watching WWE way before DX reformed in 2006 so didn't see the whole run of that version of the group, I had seen clips but it's fair to say, it was a far cry from the original DX (Michaels, HHH, Chyna, Rude) and the second incarnation (HHH, Chyna, X Pac, New Age Outlaws) so I put in the Elite 3 Michaels over the DX Michaels from 2006, the figures were very similar but this one just edges out the DX one.

8 Shawn Michaels (Wrestle Mania 38 Set)

This one was based on his second Wrestle Mania match with Undertaker at WM XXVI. A good figure, not mind blowing one by any means but I do like the figure.

 

 

7 Shawn Michaels (Elite Series 19/Lost Legends Series)

I mentioned the head on this one earlier as the head was used on the Network Spotlight one I have. This is a great figure, comes with the European title and a nice shoulder piece, I could be wrong but it's also the nearest figure to his look of the latter part of 96 where he had some great matches.

6 Shawn Michaels DX (Ringside Collectibles Exclusive)

Based on his look from when he faced Ken Shamrock to defend the WWF title he had, erm, won, from Bret Hart at the previous months Survivor Series, at WWF IYH DX in December of 97. Good figure, with the same head as the previous one in the list. I was lucky in obtaining this figure, I won it from the good brothers Scott & Jef of the Fully Poseable Wrestling Figure Podcast.

 

 

5 Shawn Michaels (Wrestle Mania 30 Flashback Figure)

This figure is based on the attire he wore at Wrestle Mania XIV where he faced and lost to 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin which also saw Mike Tyson involved. This was a turning point for the company, the Austin era had begun. Michaels was injured at the Royal Rumble that year after his back had caught the edge of a casket that was at ringside when he faced Undertaker.

4 Shawn Michaels (Wrestle Mania 37 set)

This one is a great looking figure, based on his look from Wrestle Mania IX, which was an horrendous show by the way, where he faced Tatanka. Really like Michaels figures like this more than DX ones.

 

 

3 Shawn Michaels (Ringside Collectibles Exclusive)

Like the previous one, this is great, I'd say the look is based on his early solo career in the WWF after his split with Marty Jannetty, Wrestle Mania VIII pops in my head when I look at this one, faced 'El Matador' Tito Santana I believe on that show.

2 Shawn Michaels (Flashback Series 2)

Again, another great figure, these last 3 could be in any order to be honest, big fan of this look. This series of 4 figures didn't come with a BAF, it came with a build a set, it was the 'Heartbreak Hotel' interview set which of course was hosted by Michaels. Only have 2 figures of the 4 from this set. Also, this one is based on Michaels' gear he was wearing at Wrestle Mania X when he had that amazing ladder match with Razor Ramon, I wonder if we'll get that one eventually.

1 Shawn Michaels (Defining Moments)

Yes, I couldn't look pass this one, the previous 3 are outstanding and this was of course at a different time in his career, based of course on the look he had when he faced Undertaker at Wrestle Mania XXV. Like I have said previously, I wasn't watching WWE by this point and heard it was a great match and I guess for what WWE normally do, it was, but wasn't blown away by it like many were going on by what I was reading online at the time, took me well-over a year to watch it if I recall.

So, that is my top 10 list of Mattel Elite Shawn Michaels figures, agree/disagree, let me know, really interested in what ones you would put in that I have left out.
