The Mattel Best Of Attitude Era Line

A Mattel line that didn't have many figures, just the 4 in fact, were the Best of Attitude Era . I think this line had more legs in it, it was an Amazon exclusive line and 3 out of the 4 figures were in casual clothes and just one in wrestling gear. I have them all and a big fan of 3 of them, 1 of the others, not so much, so let's talk about them.

The first one released was Chris Jericho, he was the only one out the 4 that came in wrestling attire and it is a really good figure, not many better Jericho Elite figures out there to be honest. As you can see by the image, comes with a great RAW is Jericho t shirt, microphone and tremendous head/hair sculpt. I think this hasn't been released on any other Elite figure, please let me know if it has. I know it came out, well a similar one at least, in the original Entrance Greats and basic lines. And I have to talk about the tights, gave me ECW vibes with the barbed wire detail. A real good figure and if possible, get it in your collection.
Next up was a 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, it came with a cap, microphone, SCU (Stone Cold University) vest which was the first and last time this has been seen from Mattel and again, for first time in the Mattel line a blue strapped Attitude Era winged eagle title (this is being released again with the upcoming Austin Ultimate Edition figure). We have two more to cover after this and I must say, Mattel figures not in wrestling gear were never really in my wheelhouse but slowly but surely, we have had a number of them, some great ones in the BAF line and other lines, a standout is the Defining Moments Rock but under his soft goods clothes, he is in his wrestling attire. This Austin is very good, I have a decent amount of Austin Elite style figures and this is a real good one.

Next was the aforementioned Rock, different of course to his DM one but nonetheless, very good. The image you can see of the Rock has him in all black glasses but when released it actually came with the gold rimmed glasses like his Defining Moment and more recent Ultimate Edtion which are way better. Also comes with a microphone, hell, it's The Rock, I think he picks up a mic before having his breakfast haha. Also, he comes with a removeable dress shirt, which is smart. It's not the best figure in this series of 4 but as we're about to find out, it's not the worst.
And the final figure, for me, the worst one, in the series was a Triple H, it had to be didn't it, an Attitude Era series would have to feature Triple H. Yes, it also comes with a microphone, removeable DX shirt and leather effect jacket. Something just seems off with this one, not a big fan but do have it just to complete the small series. Like The Rock, Triple H likes his epic promos in the ring it's just he wasn't as entertaining.

So, it was a short-lived line, a way to get top Attitude Era wrestlers out in casual clothes with the exception to the rule being the Jericho, which I may have already said, is great. If it had carried on, what stars from the time do you think could/should have featured? An obvious choice would be The Undertaker of course but there had been an AE type Undertaker released previously, there was the SDCC exclusive which then got a re-release in the Defining Moments line then there was the Network Spotlight one which was a different version. I guess there may have been more, let me know.
