Ringside Collectibles Exclusives (Mattel/WWE) Part 1
Welcome back all, I've been ill this week so that's why there's been a bit of a delay on the blog front but today I am back with a look at a series of figures I am very much into, a line I have yet to complete but not far off, yes, today, I'll look at the Ringside Collectables exclusive figures.
So back in 2010, Mattel started to release figures of WWE wrestlers and Legends. And Ringside Collectables (RSC) have worked with WWE for years and this led to them being able to get certain figures that you could only purchase (initially at least) through their website. For the MOC collectors these figures stood out more as they have that little sticker on the box that stated they were exclusive to RSC. I as a loose collector of course am not too worried about this but many, not all, of the figures in the RSC exclusive line are great. So, let's get cracking.
The first one released was a Ringside Fest exclusive first, Rey Mysterio which is billed as Rey Mysterio Flash as the costume is very similar to the Flash superhero character. It is a great little figure, yes, it's Mysterio, it will come up smaller than most.
Also in 2010, RSC obtained some of the SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) exclusive figures of The Undertaker to sell on their site.
In June 2011 we then had a Kane with removeable mask, towel and chains. Theres and ton of Kane figures, like the other figures mentioned so far, but this one I really like, the fact his has him with a removeable mask and darkness around the eyes is great. Mine came without the towel and the chains broken, however, a towel came with another figure in a future Elite line (if you know who, tweet me @WrestleFigsUK) so I used that and that is how he is displayed and looks great.
Next up in June 2011, was a CM Punk based on when he was bald after having his head shaved after losing a match and used to wear a mask. This is a very sought-after figure I'm led to believe. Comes with a removeable mask and a sling for his arm and a towel to cover his head.
The final release of 2011 in September was a Legends series figure and this was a Macho King Randy Savage, a wonderful looking figure as you can see pictured and being in the Legends series, I always knew it was a must have for me and I did obtain a MOC one very early into my collecting of Mattel figures but couldn't find the willpower to open it. Eventually, I bought a loose one and then sold the MOC one.
2012 saw 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin get the RSC exclusive treatment, in fact, it was a Ringside Fest exclusive, this figure, I believe is the only Austin that has red lettering and logo on the entrance vest. the figure also comes with the Attitude Era winged eagle title belt as well as his Smoking Skull belt. Not the biggest fan of the face scan on this Austin.
Next, we had another Randy Savage, this one was based on his time in the nWo while in WCW, this is a tremendous figure. I had this figure for quite a while, however, what I didn't notice before I purchased it was that it didn't have the correct glasses and the shirt, although the proper one was a rubber one, was actually a custom cloth one on my figure which wasn't bad at all but still, not original. I finally, only a month or so ago, was able to get a complete one and when I came to sell mine, I also found out, the head had been swapped too and it was the person who bought it off me who let me know before he bought it, but he was happy with the price he was paying for what he was getting.
And the last one of 2012 was one that is a big favourite of many people in the figure collecting world and that was Bret 'Hitman' Hart all in pink based on his match from Royal Rumble 1993. It really is a tremendous figure, if it has any faults, it's the jacket which is all rubber.
2013 saw a good trio of figures, first there was a Brock Lesnar followed by a Cactus Jack, who did get a release later on in the Elite line but this one has Cactus on the legs whereas the later one doesn't and the third one in 2013 was Kane which comes with the Hardcore title, great figure and for a while the only place to get that title belt.
So, we move in to 2014 and the first one we have is another CM Punk and this one is based on the time he was ECW champion after WWE brought it back. He has the longer hair, rubber shirt and ECW title belt.
Next up was the Rated R Superstar Edge, comes with long black coat, rubber, sunglasses and Rated R style WWE spinner title.
Next, we had The Rock, this figure is based on his 1998 ladder match with Triple H at Summer Slam however, the trunks he's wearing were not the ones he wore that night on the PPV. The figure also came with sunglasses, a yellow ladder and purple/blue strapped oval IC title belt.
Into 2015 now and we get 1985/86 American Made Hulk Hogan, bit of a strange look on the face on this one but I really like the figure. I see this figure and it reminds me of the appearances of Hogan on the A-Team. Of course, Hogan will always be synonymous with the red and yellow look and later the black & white of the nWo but in this figure he was in sky blue and white.
Next up was a Scott Hall based on his nWo look, at this point, the only Hall Elite figure we had was a Defining Moments Razor Ramon and the head scan on this nWo Hall was the same as that Ramon but overall, the figure is a nice-looking figure as he's decked out in his black & white colours.

The last one of 2015 was a 'Heartbreak Kid' Shawn Michaels, not much to say about this figure other than it looks great, based on his look when he was a singles wrestler after his split from Marty Jannetty in 1992. We have had other Michaels figures in the Elite line and a couple of 'HBK' ones and this one is the first and probably best but of course, that is up for discussion.
2016 came out the blocks with a Chris Jericho based on his Wrestle Mania XIX match with Shawn Michaels. Good figure, one of the last RSC exclusives I got.
Next up was a Kevin Nash nWo Wolfpack figure. Comes with rubber nWo no sleeve t shirt, sunglasses, spray can, and the big gold world title with nWo in red on it. Good figure however comes with a head scan I'm not a fan of (slicked back hair with a ponytail) and on my original one of this figure I had done a head swap and I am not alone, many others have done the same, it may have different colour hair, but the design is the same. I say my original one because I actually traded my first one for a figure I really wanted which wasn't easy to get at all so I had to do the trade in the hope I would be able to get another one of these Nash figures as it was more readily available despite being an RSC exclusive and this proved to be the case, I have yet to swap the head though.
The last one from 2016 was another nWo Wolfpack one, this time Sting, real nice-looking figure is this one, if you can get it in your collection, you should. Comes with a Wolfpack sleeveless rubber t shirt and baseball bat.
And that will end part 1 of my look at Ringside Collectable figures, part 2 should be out on Sunday/Monday.
As always, please give me your feedback, any of your favourite RSC exclusive figures covered so far, if so, what are they?
Please share this piece where you think would be suited, twitter/facebook groups etc. MUCH appreciated.
