An Introduction

Welcome to my first blog on wrestling figures. A little history on myself as far as figure collecting goes first.

I got into wrestling in 1990 and that was also the year Hasbro released their line of WWF figures, it was just before Summer Slam of that year when we first got SKY TV and I became hooked on the wackiness that is pro wrestling. Based on Summer Slam, the first 2 figures I bought were Hasbro Ultimate Warrior and Rick Rude and this set me on a path I have not been able to deviate from to this day.

I collected a LOT of Hasbro's and also Galoob's WCW figures. What is strange though is I didn't ever find the UK exclusive Galoob's, I didn't even know about them until years later.

As time went on, the Hasbro line ended and JAKKS took over the deal to make and distribute WWF figures. I had a lot of the early JAKKS figures but have to say, wasn't the biggest fan. When JAKKS released the RA style figures that we with associate with the Ruthless Aggression/Adrenaline lines I got a lot more interested in JAKKS and then I was addicted for lack of a better word in collecting as many as I could.

Of course, JAKKS also brought out the Classic Superstars line which were amazing and a big favourite of many, me included. There wasn't many of the CS figures I didn't have, I was never lucky to get any of the exclusive really, here and there I would get a 1/3000 figure but nothing more than that really.

When the JAKKS line ended I thought that was it for me and wrestling figures, I was getting a bit older, and I didn't want to go down the rabbit hole of starting a collection of another line of wrestling figures.

One of my sons asked me to get him a double pack of Rey Mysterio and Evan Bourne, which were made by Mattel, these were just basics of course, I did get them, would have a look and thought they were OK but was never drawn to them, I still had a sour taste in my mouth that the JAKKS deal had ended.

So, the Mattel Elites looked impressive but as stated, I had no intention of going down that rabbit hole, however, as a someone who was big into indy wrestling, when Sami Zayn's first Elite was released I thought I had to get it as he was a favourite of mine while working the indies as El Generico and that was the start of an obsession with Mattel Elites, not just picking up new stuff when it comes out in retail, but I am always on the lookout for the harder to find figures Mattel have released over the years. This has become an expensive habit.

So that is me and my history of collecting wrestling figures, above I have covered the main points of my collecting but in between there has been more, including various WCW figures and ECW ones from San Francisco Toy Makers.

Going forward, I'll be using this blog to talk all things wrestling figures, I will discuss various lines and give my opinions on them.

I hope you will stay along for the ride.
