Build-A-Figure's Revisted

Image
Credit to @WrestlingDaze Welcome back all but if it's your first time visiting the site, thanks for checking us out, I hope you'll be back.  A while back, I did a blog giving a history of sorts of the BAF (Build-A-Figures) but this time I want to revisit the line and talk a bit more in depth. I am a big fan of the line, I don't have them all, not by a long shot but I have some of the rarer ones which I'll get onto as we go along. I think the idea is a very good one from a business point of view, as many have the same or similar moulds as the majority of BAF's are figures in suits there's not much new tooling that is needed by the factory, maybe just for the heads. As some come with basic sets it's another way for Mattel to get collectors to buy basics which they probably wouldn't normally do, I have done this myself to try and get parts for a particular one, and I have to say, the basic figures I needed to do this were very expensive but the parts were...

Montreal, November 1997, Screwjob or Not?

Image
Hey all, it's been a while since I have blogged, I have been in the wars so to speak, been off work for a month with back/leg issues, still not resolved but I am back at work now. I arrived back to a lot of figures which you would have seen if you follow me on social media, find the links at the end. So, I am not going to write about figures today but something I like talking about with anyone that is also interested and that is the Montreal 'Screwjob'. I was watching the A&E documentary on Bret 'Hitman' Hart and of course, this was going to be spoken about. I tweeted out when watching it about how I don't think there was a screwjob and I got a response by a guy I have known for many years saying "don't be that guy". I told him, it's my opinion, we all have them. So, I know there will be many of you reading this that will think I am being ridiculous, and would say if it had been, for lack of a better term, a work then it would have come out...

Ringside Collectibles Exclusives (WWE/Mattel) Part 2

Image
Welcome to part 2 of my look at RSC exclusive figures, I hope you have read part one, if however you missed it, you can find it HERE So we're now in 2017 and I'll start off with a challenging one. I say challenging because I was always led to believe this figure was actually a Gamestop exclusive but various people have said to me over the last couple of the years when I have been trying to complete a checklist of RSC exclusive figures that the 'You Made the List' Chris Jericho (Left) is actually a RSC exclusive. TBH, I don't worry about that anymore, I have the figure actually ordered direct from them as it's such a great looking figure it really is. Some time later they released a version of it in the normal Elite line but the scan of that one was NOWHERE near the one on the one you can see pictured here, which is outstanding. Next up we have the first non painted Finn Balor figure. I was chuffed to say the least when the first Demon figure came out and when th...

The WWE/Mattel BAF (Build A Figure) Range

Image
Welcome back guys, today I am going to cover the BAF's (Build A Figure). These of course were figures that you made yourself which the parts came with each figure in a 4 figure set. I suppose it was a way Mattel would get people to buy all 4 figures in the set even if they didn't want them all but did want the BAF. As time would go on, people wouldn't always buy the 4 figures, they would either try and source the parts separately or look for a complete one on the secondary market like eBay, which I have done myself. I don't have many of them really and I don't want them all but you'll read as we go on what I have and what I want. I am not too sure if I am doing these in the order they were released but here goes. First off we have RAW commentator Michael Cole, this is one I don't have and would probably like to own,  the parts for this one came with a set of 4 figures based around PPV's. Bret Hart & Daniel Bryan from Summer Slam 2010 and John Cena ...

The Flashback Elite Line

Image
Welcome back if you have been here before and if it is your first time, thanks for checking the blog out and hopefully you'll be back for more. Today I am going to take a look at the Flashback series from Mattel, each figure in the 3 sets came with something extra, either a part to a set or a BAF (Build A Figure) so let's get started. As a fan of legends in the Mattel releases, I was looking forward to this line to see what we would get. Each series had 4 figures and the first series started off with Mean Gene Okerlund. Okerlund is probably more known for his time with the WWF but started off in the AWA before that and then would go on to work in WCW. This figure is a WWF based one, comes in a blue jacket with the option to swap it for a red one, I think the blue one is better myself. I have never really been into collecting managers, interviewers, ring announcers etc. but every now and then, something will crop up that I think is neat and I will try and get it. So, this set w...
